Lance can't seem to make up his mind if he wants to take one nap a day, or two. He's in that pesky sleep-transition stage that I just simply detest. I don't care either way, I just want him to make up his mind already!!!
Yesterday he only took one nap. For 3o minutes.
Today he took an hour nap. We didn't think he would go down for a second nap, but sure enough he did, and he's been asleep for another hour now.
I know I just need to be patient, that he will settle into a routine, just as he did when he went from napping on and off all day as a newborn to taking 3 naps a day: morning, afternoon, and a little evening snooze. Then, there was another awful transition time when he gave up his evening snooze and went to just a morning and afternoon nap. Now we're in another icky transition.
I'm a creature of habit. I know I should have learned by now that with a young kiddo, routine and habits are irrelevant. But I can't help myself.
Sigh. I'm sure in another week or so he'll get himself settled into a new routine. For now I'll just grit my teeth and get through one day at a time.

He's the age my guys were when I helped them figure out that they could take one afternoon nap. I used to put them down just after lunch and let them nap until about 3:00 pm. I picked up this routine from working day care. It worked for us.
You're right, they settle down and decide eventually. I hope for your sake that it is soon.

My daughter could set clocks by her naps, she was that set. My son is all over the place, he naps then he doesn't. Maybe it is a boy thang?
You know I just keep my little guy busy in the morning. I guess I sort of trained him out of his morning nap that way. I was like you, all frustrated about whether he would nap, but it was much earlier at 12 months!
Yeah, I'm at that point to with my boy . . . one nap or none.
With one nap he's up until 9pm or so, and without one he's asleep promptly at 8, but he is a pill in the later afternoon.

I know exactly how you feel. It can be frustrating, especially when I want him to fit a never-changing mold. I've got to learn and grow up I guess. This will pass all too quickly.
