Why I Love Photoshop

Photoshop is the digital photographer's best friend.

Last night, I was asked to do some photography for our church's 40th anniversary celebration. Many of our former pastors came for the evening, all the musical groups of our church performed, and we had a lovely dinner served outside under a twilight sky.

But this is why I love photoshop. I can take a snapshot of people, like this:

and with a few adjustments, I can make it look like this:

Hm. For some reason, the photos look slightly different in my web browser than they do in my Photoshop window. Something about 'color spaces' I think, but I'm not real sure. (Carrie, can you help me with this? How can I make it match?)

Anyhow. I was able to lighten the eyes, whiten the teeth, smooth out the skin, and get rid of a weird shiny bright spot that was in the gentleman's mouth. (The flash must have reflected off of his tooth or something. I dunno.) I also was able to tone down the sunburn on the gentleman's neck and chest.

I'm new at this, but I'm having fun!

Great job! This is something I have not learned to do. I am envious of people who "get it".

I also need to figure out how to use my Photoshop to its full extent. That photo is much improved!
