WHO is the person who developed sliding doors?

They obviously didn't have a toddler. Even with a stick of wood jamming the door, Lance can open it. See, he's smart. He simply picks up the wood, drags it through the house, hits things with it, then smears his grubby hands all over the glass, licks it, then finally opens the door. Yes, he can reach the lock and has seen how to open it. Clever little kiddo!

Or in his room-- his closet is sliding mirrored doors. I was very foolish to place his crib up against the closet doors. (At the time, I thought, "if I put the crib here, then he won't be able to get into the closet.") Now I'm thinking that would be preferable to him standing in his crib and opening and closing and opening and closing (I mean slamming) the door to protest his naptime.

Someday I'll look back on this and laugh. But not today.

Hahah Well if you are handy you could put a screw or something like that on the wall next to the handle. Then you could use rope or something like that to tie the handle and the nail together. That should confuse him for awhile.

this cracks me up. He's a smart little guy.

Now move that crib---and yes, know that you will laugh about it all one day.

Hugs,

Susan

oh man. We have the mirror sliding doors too and pretty much every time she goes in there to get something out, she knocks it off the track. One of them is always hanging at a funny angle.

And I'm slow, but I just noticed you have the Princess Bride quote on your profile. That is awesome. :)

Whew, I'm glad Fly isn't there yet.

There are latch-y type things you can use to secure the tops of sliding glass doors ... once you get into your house, you can probably install them. Because they secure at the top, little people can't reach them.

A certain very short someone in our house has been contemplating doorknobs... and I have informed him that I have duct tape and will not hesitate to use it.

Man, Emma went through a phase where she would turn the light on 'cause she could reach the switch from her crib. And her room was so small we couldn't move the crib. It was torture...

I will never forget the time I was in the bathroom, the UPS guy came, and when I heard her talking to someone, hastily finished up, and ran out pulling up my pants, he was scolding her that she should not open the door without her mommy there... Yeah, she had undone the doorknob lock and the deadbolt and was happily chattering away at a strange man... Ay.

That's when I had Jeff install a chain!

Aren't children delightful!

(sometimes you just want to rip their heads off, and send them back as defective.)

Defective or JUST PLAIN ANNOYING! LOL! Sometimes I wish I could take the batteries out for a break like I do with the annoying noisy toys my grandma and mother-in-law give them...

Sliding doors, hate them! Ian slams his closet doors all the time. Unnerving.

i can totally relate to this one ... i hate sliding doors too, especially on packed closets. i mean, my toddler can open the sliding doors now, he goes through the closet, and ransacks everything in it! - drives me crazy!
